The Working Group

The so called "working group" started their work with  informal "lunch-break" meetings in Gisi Fleischmann's office.  The members complained about the Jewish Council's (UZ) leadership.  Gradually the members started to take the initiative to rescue and assist the Jews of Bratislava.  Eventually, they were called "The Shadow Government" for taking bold steps that should have been taken by the formal Jewish leadership.
